As a former U.S. Coast Guard Commander, Christy spent 16 years leading high-performing teams in high-stakes maritime environments where failure carried real consequences. She inherited underutilized, misaligned teams three times and rebuilt each one into a top-performing unit with documented, lasting outcomes.
In 2007, she created a leadership mentorship program for Black officers inside the Coast Guard. By 2020, that program had produced the largest cohort of senior Black officers in the institution's history; a systemic culture change that outlasted her tenure by over a decade.
That's not a coaching result. That's transformation at the systems level of an organization. And it's the clearest proof that VFI's methodology doesn't just develop individuals; it changes institutions.

Then Christy paid the price that most high-performing leaders eventually pay. She burned out; severely. Stage 12 burnout, marked by more than 20 stress-related medical conditions. She spent five years not just recovering, but diagnosing the exact patterns that had driven her to that edge.
What she built from that experience, the Trauma Default™ Pattern Method, delivered in enterprise environments as the Pattern Reset Method is a clinical, field-tested framework for identifying and resetting the leadership defaults that create performance breakdown before they become visible as turnover, health crises, or organizational collapse.
